GREAT IDEA:
If you would like your computer literate children to take an interest in Family History, try using the family names of your progenitors as passwords for the user accounts on your home computer. In our house, each individual has a user account on the computer with specific privileges. Now and then the children have a legitimate need to use my account and password to do various things that their user account can't do. As you can imagine, it always seems critical for them to be able to use my account and password. So they are very motivated to remember the password and to spell it correctly. My children have learned the maiden name of their maternal great grandmother, whom they have never met. When I tell them the password I usually give a brief explanation like, "You know Grandma...'s name and it is also the name of that town we visited in Arizona last summer."
