| How do I decide what size of wristbands to order? #1 Birthday Gifts - meaningful, low cost, birthday gifts that remind of the yearly theme, yet aren't candy or a bookmark (because we've done those for years)
#2 For fun after a practice for the sacrament meeting program. (Our ward usually does a Saturday morning practice with pizza at the end.) You could take a balloon, put a primary wristband and water inside and then freeze the balloon. The children wait for it to melt to find out what is inside - later, when they are at home. Note: Make sure to buy the right size balloon. Remind the children not to put balloons in their mouth. This way there is suspense with no unhappiness about who got what color, because they are at home when they find out the surprise.
#3 A good non-food reward. They cost about the same as a candy bar and will keep you off some parents not so nice list.
#4 Give to the children at the beginning of the year when you introduce the theme.
#5 As an object lesson: The idea is you need to constantly be filling yourself with the spirit/light. The more you fill yourself with the light/spirit the brighter your light/spirit is. But, you cannot be lazy you have to consistently be drawing from the light/spirit to let your own light/spirit to shine. You could use this object lesson to reinforce on almost any topic - gospel study, choosing good friends, keeping the commandments, following the promptings of the Holy Ghost, attending Sunday meetings, etc.. If a glow in the dark wristband is kept in the dark, it loses it's glow until it is in the light again for a while. We have to do these things consistently to stay full of light.

#9 Ask the teacher of primary children who don't come regularly to make a home visit to the family and deliver a wristband to the child.
#10 Attach a keyring to the wristband and give it to your leaders for a useful theme gift.

#11 If you want to divide the children into equal groups to rotate through centers for a ward or stake quarterly activity. For example - get 10 wristbands in 5 different colors. One color for each group or center.
P.S. If you buy wristbands from LDS Greats, and want to be able next year to remember where they came from, just look inside the wristband for the LDSGreats.com web address. |
