One day in 1999, I was sitting in a meeting of the World Family Policy Forum and struck up a conversation with the woman sitting next to me. It seemed that she was starting an online magazine and was looking for writers. As it happened, I had with me a list of topics that might provide challenging articles. She—Maurine Proctor—invited me to submit sample articles.
I began a series, titled Myth of the Month, that has now provided over 100 articles to Meridian readers. The series concept was to consider popular or accepted world views and compare them with revealed gospel truth. Very often we glibly accept the world’s notions without testing them with God’s truths. We spout the standard cultural myths rather than singing the song of redeeming love. I think we can learn a lot (and live far better) when we take God seriously—when we believe what He has said and apply it in our lives.
What was initially a cautious relationship with Meridian has become a full embrace. I write about family relationships, spiritual growth, and God’s amazing plan. The Proctors encourage me and provide access to untold saints around the world.
